KENNETH CUMMINGS PHOTOGRAPHY

My name is Kenneth Cummings. I am from Memphis, Tennessee. I've always been a visual artist, beginning at a young age behind a VHS Video Camera at my church; and in 2002 is when I made the major transition from video to still photography.

I started my photojournalism journey during my junior year with my high school year book; then, my senior year, I joined the Memphis Teen Appeal -- a newspaper whose content is put together by high school students in the Memphis City School system in Memphis, Tennessee -- as a photographer; from that point, I never looked back and I knew that was GOD's route for me. After graduating from high school, I attended THE Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN where I joined The Meter, TSU's Student Publication, as a staff photographer, later becoming the Photo Editor from 2005-2008. I received my degree in Speech Communications and Theater with a concentration in Mass Communications and I am now employed with The Jackson Sun, a Gannett Newspaper in Jackson, TN, as a full time staff photographer, where I've earned three Tennessee Associated Press Managing Editors Awards: 2nd Place in Spot News Photography, 1st Place in Sports Photography & 1st Place in Body of Work.

In my opinion, still photography images last longer in the mind: it's a moment of history, frozen in time; a moment that may never play back the same way again.

I enjoy what I do, and I try my best not to call it "work" -- because "when you love what you do, you never have to work a day in your life."

I hope you enjoy the photos on my site.

To GOD Be The Glory!
